Overhead transport of single items
C&A, with its 30,000 employees spread across the continent, is one of Europe’s leading fashion houses. A perfect logistics system must be in place both on the road and in the distribution centre if trouble-free delivery to the 107 C&A shops is to be guaranteed.
In the past the shops in the Netherlands were supplied from 2 distribution centres. The two distribution centres and a warehouse were replaced by a new building near Amsterdam in order to cope with the growing demand and increased performance.
The requirements
A logistic analysis was conducted at C&A in the Netherlands in the year 1998 in preparation for combining the 2 existing DCs and a warehouse.
The Solution
Within an execution time of only 7 months, Dürkopp Fördertechnik successfully realised C&A’s targets with an efficient and reliable solution.Bundles and picked items are sorted in a fully-automatic system and transported to the individual despatch areas.
